Introduction
As we all know, when students write about topics that excite them and that they know a lot about, like kids’ movies, they are more likely to invest the time and effort necessary to create an excellent final product. This writing lesson begins with an activity, brainstorming, and discussion that will culminate in a writing assignment in which students will be excited to participate.
Learning Objectives
- Write opinion pieces in which they introduce the topic or book they are writing about
- State an opinion
- Supply reasons that support the opinion, use linking words (e.g., because, and, also) to connect opinion and reasons
- Provide a concluding statement or section
