Subject Social Studies
Grades 3-5

Introduction

This lesson allows the students to think about those in their communities who volunteer their time to ensure that the community is safe and presentable. The students should gain a greater appreciation for their community helpers as well as consider ways in which they can serve.

Learning Objective

ELA-Literacy.RI.4.10. By the end of year, read and comprehend informational texts, including history/social studies, science, and technical texts, in the grades 4-5 text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range.
