Introduction
Bring students over to the carpet and ask them to sit down. Then tell them to listen carefully as you are going to tell them a story. Think of any personal story (when you went on vacation or a time when you went to the store). Only tell the beginning of the story, then stop and ask students to predict when they think is going to happen next. Call on a few different students to get a variety of answers. Explain that when good readers read or listen to a story, they make predictions. Next create an anchor chart explaining what a prediction is as well as what other key terms mean.
